To name a home ‘exile’ however doesn’t exactly paint a picture of an idyllic voluntary retreat, but there’s every chance that this was a place of solitude. The house itself falls in line with a late 19C cottage design built with local limestone and lined with Welsh slate that was once in abundance from the quarries on the mainland. It appears to have survived the 20th century relatively unchanged, with only a few parts of the house receiving power and a single telephone line reaching via the chimney.
