Common sight in steelworks were these 20ft high ladles - a vessel used to transport and pour out molten metals up to 300 tonnes. These would often be gear driven and set upon a crane or monorail system with a lifting ball fitted in order to be rotated, usually with manual controls until powered operation was indroduced on site with electric arc furnaces.
