Edge House Farm

Edge House Farm, an abandoned farmhouse hidden away at the end of a dirt track no longer walked or driven on in the semi-rural outskirts of Alderley Edge, UK. A dairy farm once operated here and was home to a family of four who had lived and work here for over 40 years before leaving for unknown reasons little over a decade ago. From a distance this looks like any ordinary home, yet having been derelict since 2005, the land now technically remains property of the national trust meaning that it has been protected from vandals and potential redevelopers alike. Acres of land surround the farm yet the area remains completely quiet but not necessarily entirely unkept; the perimeter of the farm has had tall blockades erected in the past 12 months and the family home has been locked up tight, and the swimming pool lies empty and dormant, albeit still intact. Inside there is little left but for the odd obsolete item left behind by the family. The old wallpaper, carpets and curtains remind us of what it would have once looked like. It seems entirely unlikely that this farm will ever operate again, but regarding how affluent the area is, I can’t imagine it will stay this way for much longer.
